A full member of the Society of Garden Designers

since 1999 winning numerous national garden design awards and gold, silver gilt and silver medals at the RHS Chelsea, Hampton Court and Gardener's World Live Flower shows, I have been designing gardens in East Anglia, London and the Home Counties for the last 20 years.

My career began in architecture

where I spent 15 years working for practices in East Anglia developing my design skills and many of the other disciplines within the field which underpin professional garden design. I am also a keen artist with an eye for detail and form, able to communicate my ideas through drawings and sketches to provide clients with the visual stimulus that will in time become reality.

The majority of my work is focused on private and domestic garden design

although I have carried out numerous commercial projects. Many of my recent gardens have been designed to cope with drought and the changing climate, and I feel it is of vital importance to work with your site and soil conditions, choosing the right plant for the right place. This makes for a garden that is in harmony with itself, the plants will be happy and give of their best year after year.

My gardens are designed very much with the clients brief and budget in mind

and this, together with considering the site and the elements within it to help create a garden with a sense of place that is in sympathy with the setting of the architecture of the home and the surrounding landscape. My gardens comprise strong bold underlying structures, clothed with plants to give a naturalistic effect.

I have a thorough knowledge of garden construction and building techniques

and my extensive knowledge of plants continues to develop. I have worked with Beth Chatto at her garden in Essex, assisting with the ongoing design and development of the garden there. This experience proved to be very rewarding and enabled my continuing professional development.
